Breakdancing
We focus on all the basic components of Break dance: Toprock, Downrock, Freeze, and Powermove. As teh semester progresses we will transition fromt eh style side of breakdance to the power components. You will also learn about how breakdance started and how the dance is influneced by both U.S. regions and other countries.

Beginning Ballet

We will focus on beginning exercises at the barre and in the center. Leotards and tights are normal ballet wear, but not required. Ballet shoes are best, leather or canvas.

Bollywood

This class catches the vibrancy of the Indian subcontinent, ranging from traditional Indian to trendy contemporary dance compositions. It incorporates the Bollywood music and movement into the stunning routine, which is a combination of India folk, jazz, hip-hop, ballet and other modern dance styles. The class will be highly interactive and would be a fine synthesis of music, song, dance and most of all...soul.

Belly Dance

Belly dance is comprised of the traditional dances of North Africa and Middle East offering a low impact mild cardiovascular workout based on upper and lower body isolations. Cultural music, costume and dance styles will be reviewed during the class session.

Beginner Ballroom
Learn basic footwork and turns for East Coast Swing, Waltz, and Tango. Most emphasis will be placed ont eh Swing with an introduction to several of the other most popular styles of ballroom dance.

Hip Hop

Come and be a part of GSU's new Hip Hop Dance Classes this fall! If you would like to learn the art of popping, locking, crunk, and funk while enhancing your dance technique, then this high energy class is for you. So sign up today and take advantage of this opportunity to creatively express your individual, unique, Hip Hop dance style.

Salsa Beginner
Beginner instruction on L.A. style Salsa. Covered in the course are basic steps, styling, footwork, partnering, following and spinning. Both men and women are welcome. No partner is necessary.

Salsa Intermediate
The course will focus on improving L.A. Style dance technique, styling and learning dance combinations. Students must be familiar with basic salsa turns and footwork. No partner is necessary. NOT OPEN TO BEGINNERS.

Salsa Advanced
The advanced L.A. style salsa will class will cover advanced leading/following technique, 360s/whips, free styling, body movement, men's footwork, ladies styling and advanced shine patterns. Students must have taken an intermediate salsa class at GSU or an off-campus equivalent. No partner necessary.

Samba
The Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance that originated in Brazil. It is best know as a carnival dance during street festivals. A specific set of dances define the Samba dance scent in Brazil. Along with dance styles yo will learn the history and culture of the Samba.

 

West African Dance
This class will teach an overview of dances from several West African countries. Students will how to isolate body movements and become poly-rhythmic. Students will also learn and perform a special choreography. Please expect fun workouts, nice rhythms and great dances.
