Sport Lead Climbing Certifications
This clinic/certification will teach the experienced, confident, and belay
certified climber the fundamentals behind lead climbing at our GSU wall
or outdoor setting. The clinic will be a mix of short instruction, and hands on experience for both the belayer and the climber. Climber must be able to comfortably climb a 5.7-5.8 rated climb in a top rope situation and then prove his/her skill before being certified to lead climb in the climbing wall.

Whitewater Kayaking School
This fun and exciting first-timers course is designed to enhance your knowledge of whitewater kayaking and moving water safety. Each participant will learn basic paddling skills and techniques, safety considerations, fundamental whitewater rescue skills, equipment selection and maintenance, and selections of routes/trips to participate in for both flat water and whitewater outings. The course begins with four sessions in still water and will be completed with a progressive two-day optional river trip (see trips below). Please plan to attend all clinic dates. No prior experience is necessary - this is for first time kayakers.

Beginner Rock Clinic
As a preface to our beginner outdoor rock trip, join our climbing guru for an evening of climbing education. We’ll not only belay certify you in this clinic, but we also go over all the techniques, terminology, common equipment used in outdoor climbing, and safety issues. Combining this with the outdoor trip the following weekend completes the entire Beginners Rock Course.

Grassy Mountain Tower Trail
This hike will find you climbing a moderate to strenuous two miles to
take in a 360 degree view then hiking an easy 1.5 miles around Lake
Conasauga. This high elevation lake is unique and worth the climb. Enjoy swimming in the lake. Good clothing and physical condition are needed for this six mile hike.

Bartram Trail
Hike the Chattooga River section of this trail and hear the roaring river
below. Eat lunch with amazing views of the gorge and enjoy the day along the border of South Carolina and Georgia while learning the history of William
Bartram.

BACKPACKING

Coosa Bald Backcountry Excursion
Backpack the popular Coosa Backcountry Trail across Coosa Bald and Slaughter Mountain. This moderate to strenuous journey in Vogel State Park is one of our favorites. It’s a spectacular trail that is usually only frequented by overnight backpackers, and thus, you get more privacy. Between the rewards of the mountain top views you’ll work to climb into
Wolfpen Gap and out towards Slaughter Gap. This is not one to miss!

Great Smoky Mountains Fall Color Tour
Enjoy a three day fall color tour of Great Smoky Mountain National Park by vehicle and foot. We’ll see the park from many angles and then dive into the wilderness away from the sightseers to backpack under the gleaming canopy. Bring your camera because the views will be spectacular.
Participants should be in good physical condition and previous camping experience is a plus.

Piedmont Park Afternoon Walk
Join Gardner Neely for an afternoon/evening walk to Piedmont Park from Georgia State. He’ll talk about the history of the area and
discover the many species of trees in Piedmont Park. Accompany the group for a bite to eat at a corner eatery (bring cash!) and enjoy the evening walk back.

Chattahoochee River Trail
Evening Walks
Hike along the Chattahoochee River Trail north of Atlanta and discover
birds, waterfowl, and river animals that make this place home. Use this or our Chattahoochee River Float trips as an easy, inexpensive way to relax after a hard day.

Amicalola Falls State Park
Hike the 604 stairs up and back down to view this 729 foot cascading waterfall from all angles – the tallest east of the Mississippi. Feel the mist cool you off on this warm afternoon. We’ll also visit the start of the 2,135 mile Appalachian Trail and hike a portion of it around the park.

Providence Canyon State Park

Tallulah Gorge State Park
On your Climber’s Club decent from the north rim into the 1,000 ft. deep gorge you’ll discover a suspension bridge swaying 80 feet from the bottom of the gorge and a chance to walk to the riverbed valley. The journey back out will reward you with a punch on your card for completion.

Cloudland Canyon State Park
Spend a day hiking along the rim of this amazing 1,200ft. deep canyon in far northwest Georgia and then dive into the Gorge on the 1 mile, 600 step Waterfalls Trail. You’ll see two spectacular cascading waterfalls
spilling over layered sandstone and then hike out.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Trail Riding
Beginner and experienced riders will enjoy this opportunity to tour the
foothills by horseback in Blue Ridge, GA. We’ll spend 1 1/2hours in the
saddle riding through dense forest, open fields, and moist bottoms on
privately-owned land. Bring your child on our parent/child trip.

ROCK CLIMBING and CAVING

Wild Cave Exploration, part II
Back by popular demand, our caving trip will explore more wild depths of Mother Nature. Dive into 59 degree air and prepare to get muddy. Join us as we hike, crawl, climb and squeeze our way through a remote, desolate and virtually uncharted wild cave. untouched by commercialism, you will explore passages formed millions of years ago and see the albino life that peacefully lives there.

Beginner Outdoor Rock Course
This one day trip is open to all levels of climbing but will be oriented
towards the beginner outdoor climber. We’ll take you out to a popular rock climbing destination in Georgia to test your outdoor climbing ability and put learned skills to test. Combine this with the Rock Climbing Clinic to take advantage of the full instructional course.

Sandrock Intermediate Rock Climbing Trip
This climbing palace has an abundance of intermediate climbing
routes for the above beginner and beyond level of climber. We’ll spend
the day testing skills on climbing routes that meet your ability. Climbers
will find plenty of bouldering opportunities with our crash pads
during down time. Belay certification on the indoor climbing wall is
required.
