Four Year Scholarship
The Army ROTC at Georgia State University offers 4-year
scholarships. This covers tuition fees up to a $250 monthly stipend,
and $600 a year in book fees for all years on scholarship.
Requirements:
- Be a US citizen.
- Be 17 years old before the scholarship is effective.
- Take the SAT or ACT no later than November of the year you
apply (must have a minimum 920 SAT or composite 19 ACT).
- Have good high school grades (approximately a 3.0 or
higher).
- Participate in leadership, extracurricular and athletic
activities. (Students with part-time jobs will be given substitute
credit).
- Be under 27 years old on June 30 of the year you expect to
graduate and receive your officer's commission. (An age extension of up
to three years may be granted to veterans who qualify).
- Select an Army approved academic major.
- Agree to accept a commission as an Officer in the Army.
- Meet required medical and physical fitness standards.
Application Deadline
The deadline for application before your senior year of high school for
the early board, and November 15th of your senior year
of high school for the regular board. High school students who are
juniors or seniors are eligible to apply. Apply on-line at www.armyrotc.com. Applications can
also be obtained from and subsequently turned in to: United States Army
Cadet Command, ATTN: Army ROTC Scholarship, Fort Monroe, VA 23651-5238,
or by calling 1-800-USA-ROTC. You can also print off a mail-in request
form from http://www.armyrotc.com/index.htm
. Applications are accepted year round.
Four-year applicants may also obtain applications from high
school counselors. Applicants who apply for the early selection board
(July 15th before your senior year of high school) and who are not
selected will automatically be reconsidered by the December board
(November 15th Deadline). All applicants are evaluated by a board which
considers the following criteria; ACT/SAT scores, high school academic
record, extracurricular and/or athletic activities, and personal
interview which is done at the closest ROTC program. Winners must pass
an Army medical examination to receive the scholarship.
