| A | ......Aim the extinguisher nozzle at the base of the flames | |
| S | ......Squeeze trigger while holding the extinguisher upright | |
| S | ......Sweep the extinguisher from side to side, covering the area of the fire with the extinguishing agent | |
Fire Extinguisher Types
Fire extinguishers are rated by the type(s)
of fires they are designed to put out. These ratings are identified on
the label of the fire extinguisher. Listed below are the three types of
ratings:
| Class A: | Ordinary combustible materials such as wood, paper, plastics, and clothing |  |
| Class B: | Flammable liquids |  |
| Class C: | Energized electrical equipment |  |
The University utilizes the following types of portable fire extinguishers:
- Multipurpose ABC Dry Chemical
- Pressurized Water
- Carbon Dioxide
