Minutes

January 9, 2008

Present: Paul Alberto, Deron Boyles, Elisabeth Burgess, Dean Dabney, Dabney Dixon, Bill Fritz, Sandra Garber, Cece Grindel, Hugh Hudson, George Pullman, George Rainbolt, Don Reitzes, Tim Renick, Marti Singer, and P.C. Tai.

Absent: Christine Gallant, Valerie Miller, Siva Nathan, George Pullman, and Laurie Tis.

The meeting was called to order by the chair, Paul Alberto, at 12:03 p.m. The first item of business was the approval of the May 2, 2007 minutes. The minutes were approved with no changes.

Discussion then turned the presidential search. Dr. Alberto distributed the list of names of BOR members who will be serving on the Board’s search committee for the next GSU president. Also included was the description of the membership of the Presidential Search and Screen Committee. There is a call for six faculty representatives from the institution to serve on this search and screen committee. The discussion turned to possible candidates who would represent GSU’s needs and interests well. Several names were put forward. The Committee of Chairs can only recommend names to Dr. Patton. He will make the final decision.

There was some discussion about holding a special Senate meeting to allow the Senate to approve the six faculty members’ names.

Since there was no further business, the committee adjourned at 12:48 p.m.
