On January 13, 2000, the Committee on Student Discipline conducted a hearing regarding charges of academic dishonesty against a graduate student in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. The student had requested and received unauthorized information regarding a midterm examination and then disseminated information about the test to other students. The instructor of the course recommended a disciplinary penalty of expulsion. The student attended the hearing, presented his argument, answered questions from committee members, and concluded his argument. The committee believed that the recommended penalty was too harsh, and it recommended (a) that the student be suspended for Spring 2000 and Summer 2000 and (b) that the student's transcript be annotated to indicate that he had received a grade of F in the course because he had violated the university's policy on academic honesty. The committee's recommendation was transmitted to the Dean of Students.

Respectfully submitted,
Bil Boozer, Committee Assistant
