University Senate Committee on Student Discipline

The University Senate Committee on Student Discipline convened a hearing on December 7, 2001 to consider charges of violation of the Policy on Academic Honesty made against Student B, an undergraduate student in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. The student participated in the hearing, as did the two instructors of the courses from which the charges originated.

The committee believed that the college's recommendation that the student be expelled from the Robinson College of Business was inappropriate given the circumstances of the case. The committee members were not convinced that the evidence provided supported the instructor's charge that cheating had occured during the test administration in his classroom. The committee recommended that the student be suspended from the university for one academic term. An audio recording of the presentations of the student and of the instructors was made.
