University Senate Committee on Student Discipline

17 March 2004 Hearing Minutes

The Committee on Student Discipline convened at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 17 March 2004, to consider the charge of violation of the Student Code of Conduct, Section 5.2, Discriminatory Harassment, against two GSU students. Committee members present for the hearing were Sam Cox, Greg Brack, Val Miller, Michael Murrell, and Maisha McClain. Also present were the complainant and her witnesses, her GSU legal advisor Kerry Heyward, the two students charged and one of their fathers as an advisor, and Committee Assistant Michael Cohen,.

Both parties presented their statements and evidence to the committee. Their witnesses provided testimony and were questioned by the committee. In conclusion, the committee determined unanimously that both students had violated Section 5.2 of the Student Code of Conduct. The discipline committee’s recommended sanctions were submitted to the Dean of Students.
