University Senate Committee on Student Discipline

The University Senate Committee on Student Discipline met at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 1996 in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the College of Education Building, 1995-96 Committee Chair Al Smith presiding

Members present: Myron Greene, Al Smith, Bill Waugh, Thom Wubbenhorst.

Also present: Bil Boozer, Kurt Keppler.

Members absent: Marva Carter, Fred Frank, Bill Waugh.

Dr. Smith convened the committee meeting at 1:23 p.m.

Dr. Keppler told the committee that there are eleven cases which chould come before the committee, but the students in those cases had not decided on what course of action to take regarding their cases.

Dr. Greene nominated Dr. Smith to serve as chair of the committee for the 1996-97 academic year. Dr. Smith was elected by acclamation of the committee members.

Dr. Keppler told the committee members that the Student Code of Conduct is printed in the back of the student handbook and that currently the Student Life and Development Committee is working on a policy regarding computer fraud.

Dr. Keppler suggested that the establishment of university housing for students will require a new judicial system to deal with problems such as vandalism, alcoholism, and roommate disagreements that are associated with on-campus residences.

Dr. Smith asked the committee assistant to inquire about summer schedules of faculty members of the committee in case a meeting had to be scheduled during the summer.

The meeting adjourned at 1:50p.m.
