University Senate Committee on Student Discipline

The University Senate Committee on Student Discipline met at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 1996 in room 796 of the College of Education Building, in order to conduct a hearing, Committee Chair Al Smith presiding

Members present: Marva Carter, Fred Frank, Mandy Glowacki, Myron Greene, Al Smith, Bill Waugh, Thom Wubbenhorst.

Also present: Bil Boozer, Student X.

Dr. Smith convened the committee meeting at 1:05 p.m.

Members of the committee introduced themselves to each other.

Committee members received copies of the procedures for conducting the disciplinary hearing, and Dr. Smith reviewed the procedures.

At 1:43 p.m., Dr. Smith called Student X into the meeting room, and the hearing began. Dr. Smith read a statement provided by Carolyn Crimmins, the plaintiff in this case. Next the defendent, Mr. X, was given the opportunity to make a statement and he was questioned by the committee. Testimony concluded at 2:00 p.m. and Mr. X left the meeting.

After deliberations, the committee recommended to the Provost that Student X be suspended from the university for one academic quarter and that his transcript be annotated to indicate that he had been found guilty of violating the university's policy on academic honesty.

The meeting adjourned at 2:18 p.m.
