I. In the absence of Peggy Inman, chair, the ,meeting was called to order by past chair, Bill Fritz. Alberta Cook who was elected chair-elect was not able to preside over this meeting since she was chair of the 2000 staff conference and presently occupied. Staff Council members present sent a heartfelt speedy recovery to Peggy.

II. The June 16, 2000 minutes were distributed. Minutes were approved with two corrections made. The first was the spelling of Ms. Young’s first name—Awanda was changed to Alexandra. The second was in paragraph III, line four. “For retirement” was inserted twice.

III. The health plan was discussed with rates set as of January 1, 2001. Those employees choosing PPO would experience no net increase in premiums. Those choosing the indemnity plan would be paying considerably more. We would be told specifics from our Human Resources officers who were meeting on Jekyll Island this very same week.

IV. It was reported that the minimum wage was going up $.50 as of January 1, 2001. This is not an official announcement.

V. Differences in Merit vs. BOR vacation and sick leave were discussed with no answers to questions raised. It was decided that the ad hoc committee (members are Bill Fritz, chair; Renet Jones, West Georgia; Leslie Williams, GSU; Donna McPherson, SPSU; and Shelia Bradley, GSU) was to continue their investigation and report their findings at our next meeting. Staff Council members asked to consider whether or not they want to bring up the differences as an issue.

VI. Our next meeting date was set for Friday, February 23, 2001. Ainsley Eubanks will check on a meeting room at Macon State and get back with us. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
