10th anniversary meeting of staff conference.

II.       USGSC is still working on getting additional institutions to join USGSC.

David Baugher of KSU was contacted by a person at Middle Georgia College

who is interested in getting a Staff Council started there.

III.     There was a discussion about what the differences are between State Merit

Employees and Board of Regents Employees.  It is believed that state

employees can retire after 33 years of service and board of regents

employees are eligible for retirement after 30 years.  An

adhoc committee was formed to investigate these differences.  The

committee members are as follows:  Renet Jones, West GA; Leslie Williams,

GSU; Donna McPherson, SPSU, Bill Filtz, VSU; Shelia Bradley, GSU.  Bill will

            chair this committee.

IV.       There was nothing new to report about the Health Benefits issue

V.         Alberta asked for volunteers to help with the “How to Start a Staff Council”

at the 2000 Conference.  Brenda will email Alberta names of people who

might help.  David will also ask for volunteers and Leslie will check with Ramona.

VI.       Please email Cheryl Harris with updates to the list serve.

VII.     Alberta Cook was elected Chair-Elect and Paula Donovan was elected as

            secretary.  Congratulations to these folks!

VIII.   Each institution gave an update of staff activities that were happening on

campus.  Bill said goodbye as chair of the USGSC and Peggy took over.  The

next meeting will be the 2000 Staff Conference October 5 at SPSU.  We’ll

            ya’ll there.
