Jon Sizemore called the meeting to order at 4:05PM and asked for a motion to approve the minutes. Minutes were approved with the following corrections.

Georgia Southwestern school report included the report from Georgia State University. It should read

Georgia Southwestern – They were able to acquire the Golf Course. There is lots of construction going on.

Georgia State University – They held a Benefits Staff Info Day – a day to go all out for the staff. They had vendors display for insurance people, banks, etc. It was held in October so they got the new PPO, HMO, Indemnity plan info too. They completed first year as Senators – 10 senators were elected. They also held their officer elections.

Treasurers Report – The Treasurer provided a Financial Report that included a listing of schools who have paid their membership dues. The current balance in the account is $1,344.33. There were no expenses to report.

Opening USGSC Conference – Jon welcomed everyone to Columbus State University and expressed appreciation for the representatives.

ListServ Management – Discussion was held on how to register for the ListServ and who was eligible to be on it. Each school has two representatives who are on the list, and all past officers of State Staff Council. Alberta Cook is the monitor for the List, Georgia State University is the Host site.

Website Management - Discussion included which schools have Staff Council web pages and how they are linked to the state page.

Shared Leave Update – UGA has 10,000 hours now and the program is going well. They expect to expand the program. Darton hopes to start their program November 1. GA State has a program in Executive Council. Clayton State is just starting to look into the possibilities.

Budget Issues – There is concern that Presidents are saying they will cut staff positions and not faculty positions. Early Retirement is off the table – several schools offered to work without pay one day or consolidate positions rather than lose jobs. The issue for Staff Council is fewer promotions – we need to be able to roll over. A lot of the suggestions have already been implemented in places and the decisions are really up to the legislature. The only way to get it done is by writing to your representatives individually, not as a group.

Discussion on all other issues was tabled until our next meeting in February so that members could participate in Conference Activities and Tour.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:00PM.
