The Department of Sociology at Georgia State University invites applications for two anticipated tenure track assistant professor positions, beginning in August 2010. We are looking for scholars with substantive research interests in one of the two following specialty areas that complement our existing strengths: 1) family and health; or 2) life course/aging and health. Priority will be given to scholars with quantitative research interests that can lead to external funding. Located in the heart of Atlanta, we are a Ph.D. granting department with a research active faculty and a diverse graduate and undergraduate student body. We enthusiastically encourage applications from minority candidates.
Candidates should submit: 1) a letter outlining their qualifications; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) two samples of their scholarly work; 4) evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e., course syllabi, student evaluations, and statement of teaching philosophy); and 5) three letters of recommendation. The Sociology Department invites applications for an anticipated Lecturer position, beginning Augnst 2009 and contingent upon availability of funding. PhD in sociology required at time of appointment. The Lecturer position, while non-tenure-tract, is a fulltime teaching position with benefits, rights, and privileges of regular faculty. The department is seeking a scholar able to teach undergraduate research methods, introductory sociology, and social problems as well as some combination offamily, race,and gender.
