Undergraduate Programs

The undergraduate program in sociology is designed to create an environment that stimulates intellectual curiosity and encourages creative thought. The department offers a wide variety of courses in order to provide students with a solid background in the discipline.

Students can complete a General Program in Sociology or specialize in one of four concentrations: Family, Health, and Life; Race and Urban Studies; Gender and Sexuality; and Gerontology. Within the specializations, however, there is a fair amount of flexibility for students to pursue topics of interest.
