Admission to the graduate program is competitive. Candidates for admission should have an academic record that suggests they can succeed at the graduate level and complete a degree in a satisfactory and timely manner. In addition to the general requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Sociology has specific requirements for the different graduate programs.

For admission to the Ph.D. only and Joint M.A./Ph.D (fall semester), the deadline to submit your complete application to the College of Arts and Sciences is March 15th. Applicants interested in the Joint M.A./Ph.D. program should select "Doctoral or Ph.D. Program" on the online application, not the "MA Program". Applicants to the Ph.D. Only or Joint M.A./Ph.D. programs interested in a graduate assistantship must submit materials by January 15th

The Department of Sociology offers graduate research and teaching assistantships on a competitive basis. More information is available in the Department of Sociology Graduate Handbook.
Graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences also have access to a wide variety of funding sources, many of which are listed on the College of Arts and Sciences website: Graduate Study Funding
