Project for Establishment of Ph.D Program

Over the last 20 years, USAID and other international donors have made substantial efforts to develop the higher education in business in the former USSR & Eastern Europe, however, most of the business education institutions are not yet world-class and have not achieved accreditation from the top American and European bodies, AACSB and EQUIS. The main reason for the failure is the lack of institutional capacity to institutionalize program development and maintenance and to generate original business research. An American style Ph.D Program will add the capacity to train the next generation of academics for the business schools in the region. The USAID Mission in Georgia has declared lack of institutional capacity in public and private sector institutions as one of the major impediments to economic development.
