The Orientation GSTEP is given at the beginning of each semester during orientation for new international students. The test is given to graduate students whose colleges/departments require the test. There is no cost for this test. It includes the following components:

• A reading/writing section including short answers and one essay
• A multiple choice listening section
• A multiple choice reading section
• An oral interview

Based on the results of the test, students may require (i) no ESL courses, (ii) graduate level reading/writing or listening/speaking courses, or (iii) Intensive English Program courses.
