ABN AMRO

ABN AMRO has a presence in 74 countries and territories. Using its worldwide network the bank provides universal banking services consisting of commercial and investment banking products to corporates well as personal and private banking customers.

A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc.

A.G. Edwards was founded in 1887 to focus on helping individual investors and businesses successfully reach their financial goals. Located in St. Louis, the firm provides both underwriting and financial advisory services to corporations.

Allen C. Ewing & Co.

Allen C. Ewing & Co., founded in 1939, is a regional investment banking and brokerage firm based in Florida.  Ewing offers a wide range of investment banking services including mergers and acquisitions, valuations and fairness opinions, private placements, public offerings, and corporate restructurings.

Bank of America

Banc of America Securities is a full-service investment bank and brokerage firm with principal offices in San Francisco, New York City and Charlotte.  The organization provides equity underwriting, acquisition financing, private placements, senior loans and loan syndication, municipal finance, high yield and investment grade debt issuance. In addition, BAS also offers capital markets capabilities as well as institutional sales, research, prime brokerage, clearing and private client services.  Note that Bank of America acquired FleetBoston last year, further expanding its franchise.

BNP Paribas

Paris-based investment and merchant bank advising corporations and institutions in such areas as mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and privatization. The bank was founded in 1872 and provides an interesting corporate history on its web site.  Banque Nationale de Paris acquired Banque Paribas in 1999.

Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc.

Based in New York, Bear Stearns is a leader in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, equity and fixed income sales and trading, private client services, derivatives, securities research, asset management, foreign exchange, futures sales and trading, clearing and securities lending and custody.

Bentley Associates LP

Bentley Associates is a New York investment bank specializing in Private Placements, Project Finance, M&A, Corporate Advisory Services, Privatizations and International Finance primarily for middle market companies. The firm focuses on providing senior level attention to its clients, and does not offer retail brokerage services.

BMO Nesbitt Burns

A subsidiary of Bank of Montreal, BMO Nesbitt Burns is a full-service investment bank serving the financial needs of individual, institutional, corporate and government clients. The firm employs 4,300 people in offices across Canada, in the U.S., as well as in 10 international locations.

Broadview Associates

The firm is focused exclusively on information technology, communications, and media investment banking.  Broadview Associates advises companies undertaking mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and minority investments, and does not underwrite securities.  With a global network of nearly 200 employees operating across the United States, Europe, Asia and Israel, the firm is headquartered in Northern New Jersey.

Brown Brothers Harriman

Through its domestic and international operations, BBH offers services in global custody, international credit and international financial advisory service.  Founded in 1818, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. is America's oldest and largest private bank.

Cantor Fitzgerald Securities

Cantor Fitzgerald is headquartered in New York City with offices around the world. They specialize in fixed income, equities, foreign exchange, derivatives, global lending, and finance.

CIBC World Markets

CIBC World Markets is the global marketing name for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce investment banking affiliates and subsidiaries worldwide (including Oppenheimer & Wood Gundy).  It offers a full range of integrated credit and capital markets products, securities, brokerage and asset management services to corporate, government, institutional and individual clients.

Citigroup

The leading credit card issuer in the US and the first domestic bank with more than $1.2 trillion in assets, Citigroup offers banking, loans, asset management, insurance, investment banking, and other financial services.  The Global Corporate & Investment Banking Group (GCIB) is a leading force in the world’s capital markets and is comprised of three business lines: Global Banking, Capital Markets and Transaction Services.

Credit Suisse First Boston

Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) is one of the world's leading corporate and investment banking firms, providing a comprehensive range of financial advisory, capital raising, research, sales & trading and financial products for users and suppliers of capital around the world. CSFB and Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette recently merged.

Dain Rauscher Wessels

Formed in 1998 through the acquisition of Wessels, Arnold & Henderson by Dain Raucher, the firm is an investment bank and institutional brokerage firm with offices in Minneapolis and Silicon Valley. It focuses exclusively in the technology, healthcare, and consumer sectors of the economy.

Deutsche Bank

As owner of Bankers Trust, BT Alex Brown and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, the Deutsche Bank Group aims to be the premier European investment bank and one of the leading investment banks in the world. The firm has significant global reach and capital resources, and offices throughout the world.

First Albany Corporation

First USA Bank

First USA is the largest Visa credit card issuer in the world.  The company offers high-value credit cards for consumers and businesses under its own name, that of its parent, Bank One, the First Card name, and on behalf of over 2,200 marketing partners.

Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co.

A leader in the IPO market, Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co works in investment research, institutional brokerage, investment banking and money management. The firm is located in Washington, D. C.

Goldman, Sachs & Co.

Goldman Sachs is a leading international investment banking and securities firm providing a full range of investing and financing services to corporations, governments, institutions and individuals worldwide.   Founded in 1869, it is among the oldest and the largest of the U.S.-based investment banks and recently completed their IPO in 1999.  The firm is headquartered in New York and has offices worldwide.

Hilliard Lyons

The largest investment bank in the Ohio Valley, Hilliard Lyons serves customers in fields such as mutual funds, options, bonds, trusts, retirement planning, mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance. The company was founded in 1854 and its headquarters are located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin

This boutique firm has been providing M&A advice, as well as valuation and fairness opinion services, for over 25 years. The firm is based in Los Angeles but also has a presence in New York.

ING Baring Furman Selz

Headquartered in Amsterdam, ING is a leading financial institution in the field of emerging markets banking, trade & commodity finance, emerging markets equity and research and corporate finance.  ING's investment banking operations consist of Barings and Furman Selz, a New York-based investment bank which has grown into a quiet force on Wall Street.

Jefferies & Company

Jefferies is a leading investment bank serving mid-cap investors and issuers.  The firm provides capital raising and financial advisory services to middle-market companies, and comprehensive brokerage services, independent research, and strategic asset management to institutional investors.

J.P. Morgan

One of the oldest and largest financial institutions in the US and abroad, J.P. A global investment bank, the cornerstone of Lazard Frčres & Co's business centers on their precise focus, small size, international expertise, decades of experience, and privacy.  The firm has offices in New York, London and Paris.

Legg Mason

Legg Mason, Inc. is a global financial advisory company that serves many types of clients: individual and institutional investors, corporations, high net worth individuals, government entities, endowments and foundations, pension plans, associations, and insurance companies. Lehman Brothers

With 39 offices worldwide and headquarters in New York, London and Tokyo, Lehman Brothers is a full service investment bank. It works in fixed income and equity capital markets, serving the financial needs of corporations, institutions, governments and high net worth investors worldwide.

McLean Group

The McLean Group is a private investment bank providing merger and acquisition, business valuation, capital formation, executive advisory and litigation support services. Its focus is on serving middle-market businesses generating between $5 million and $300 million in revenues.

M & T Bank

Formerly named First Empire Corporation, M&T Bank is one of the country's strongest regional banks with 255 branches throughout New York State and northeastern Pennsylvania. 

Merrill Lynch

Merrill Lynch has offices in over 40 countries worldwide and is one of the largest investment banking firms in the United States. Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley was founded in 1933 in response to the Glass Steagall Act.  It now has a major global presence and is a full service investment bank with a large and diversified clientele. The firm merged with Dean Witter Discover in 1997.

Nikko Securities is a Japanese firm that deals in a full range of investment services.

Nomura Securities

Nomura focuses on commercial backed mortgage securities and real estate financing.

Prudential Securities

Prudential Securities, a fully diversified, global securities Firm headquartered in New York City, has nearly 300 offices worldwide.

Raymond James

Based in Tampa, Florida, Raymond James provides individual investors, corporations, and municipalities with investment, financial planning, investment banking, asset management, banking, and trust services throughout the US and internationally.

Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated

Robert Baird is a Milwaukee based investment bank that specializes in underwriting, asset management, pension & profit sharing services. It primarily serves clients in the Midwest United States. Since 1982, Baird has been a member of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance family of companies.

Founded in 1988, this San Francisco firm manages strategic   mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic capital raising partnering transactions for software companies. 

Thomas Weisel Partners

Founded in January of 1999 by one of the principals of Montgomery Securities, the firm employs 357 professionals with 65 partners and operates out of offices in San Francisco, New York, Boston and London.  TWP is a merchant bank providing investment banking, institutional brokerage, private client services and private equity investing focused on the new frontiers of the growth economy.

U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray

Founded in 1895, Piper Jaffray is a Minneapolis based firm offering investment banking, capital markets, money management and trust services. It has 90 offices in the western United States.

UBS Warburg

UBS Warburg is the international investment banking division of Union Bank of Switzerland following the June 1998 merger with Swiss Bank Corporation.  One of the most significant investment banks in the world, UBS Warburg leads the field in crafting uniquely innovative solutions for major corporations, financial institutions, sovereign governments and supranational organisations.

Veber Partners

Veber Partners is a private investment banking firm whose partners have served the Pacific Northwest since October 1989. The firm specializes in corporate sales and strategic partnering, raising capital, and strategic financial planning and restructuring for Northwest middle market corporations.

Wachovia Bank

The New York Stock Exchange has an excellent site. We love the interactive quiz and history sections! You might also be interested in a site related to NYSE data and academic research.

FinanCenter

FinanCenter is an important resource for people who plan to take out home or car loans. Work sheets lay out the pros and cons of buying, renting and leasing, and other sections discuss the tax implications of each transaction.

Microsoft Investor

This is one of the few sites that offers rich historical stock data. In addition, you will find great charting, current market news, portfolio tracking and more.
