Training
The
Training Unit is a unit of the Patrol Bureau and focuses
its attention on the following three categories:
- Basic/Orientation
Training
- In-Service
Training
- Advanced
Training
Basic
Orientation Training is a one hundred twenty (120) hour classroom
orientation program for each new officer.
Along
with orientation training an officer must complete Basic Mandate
Training of 360 hours which is held at Fulton County Police
Academy.
Upon
successful completion of the Academy an officer will receive
a minimum six weeks of Field Training before he/she is allowed
to work without a training officer present. On average, a
new officer is in training at least six months.
