The boxes are activated by opening the door on the box and pushing a call button on the inside. The caller is connected directly to the police radio network and may speak to the police dispatcher. The University currently has more than 58 call boxes, which can be identified by emergency signs and flashing blue lights.

Police Officers check the boxes daily to make sure they are operational.
