- Note
the location of the emergency call boxes that are located on
campus
- Make
sure your vehicle is in good working condition
- Try
to keep at least a half tank of gas in your vehicle
- To
avoid car jacking: when stopping in traffic, you should be able
to see where the rear tires on the vehicle ahead of you touch
the pavement
- In
the event your car breaks down, do not leave it. If someone
stops to help, roll the window down only enough to talk and
ask them to call the police for you
- Try
to avoid going out alone after dark. If you have to go out,
be sure to call someone and let that person know when you are
leaving and when you will return
- Consider
the purchase of a cellular telephone
- Avoid
parking in deserted areas. If possible, try to park under or
near a street light
- Listen
to your body warning you that something is not right and act
on that warning
