Video Problems

The video for my class won't play at all
I can hear sound but no video is playing
I click on the video link, but nothing happens
I get an error message when I try to play a movie

If you are on a dial up connection, have other programs running while you are trying to watch a video, or have an older computer, on-line video links may not work well for you.

Sound but no Video
If you are using Real Player and can hear sound but not see the video:

  1. Select a video clip or click the play button to start playing a loaded video clip.
  2. Wait until the video is exhibiting one of the above symptoms.
  3. Click and hold on the menu bar (the top) of RealPlayer.
  4. Drag RealPlayer to a new location on your desktop.

If you saw the video playing properly while you were dragging your RealPlayer but the problems reappeared when you stopped dragging your RealPlayer (or shortly after you stopped dragging it):

  1. Select Tools > Preferences from the menus.
  2. Select Hardware and look in the Video Card Compatibility section.
  3. Click and drag the slide bar to Most Reliable . (This will disable optimized video.)
  4. Click OK .
  5. Attempt to play the video again.
