BlackOUT

BlackOUT exists as an organization comprised of Black LGBTQIQ people and their allies dedicated to fostering community, creating political awareness, and addressing oppression. People who are interested in receiving information on joining BlackOUT can either attend any general body meeting or email acain3@student.gsu.edu.

The aims of BlackOUT are to:

  • Create a safe space on the campus of Georgia State University for African American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and questioning people
  • Foster dialog that promotes consciousness-based awareness, particularly around the intersections of racial, sexual, and gender identities and oppression
  • Develop and promote programming that fosters understanding and awareness of the culture(s) of African-American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people
  • Promote social and academic justice through collaborative efforts with other groups who are engaged in comparable goals and objectives for the betterment of the campus of Georgia State University and surrounding areas
