Affiliating with the WSI

Affiliate Faculty are faculty from any College, School, or Institute at Georgia State University. Affiliate Faculty may, but are not required to, teach WSI courses (cross-listed or originating in the WSI), chair or serve on thesis committees, and serve on WSI standing or ad hoc committees. In order to maintain eligibility for future affiliate status, an Affiliate Faculty must serve on a committee or teach a WSI class during his or her term.

All faculty whose primary lines do not reside in the WSI and who teach WSI courses (those originating in the WSI or those that are cross-listed with other departments) or chair WSI thesis committees must have Affiliate Faculty status.

The WSI Executive Committee calls for and reviews applications for Affiliate Faculty status during the spring semester of each academic year. In order to apply for Affiliate Faculty status, a faculty member should provide the WSI Director and Executive Committee with the following: (1) a full cv, (2) a descriptive statement (of one page or less) of experience in and commitment to the study of women and gender, and (3) a list of courses taught in the last three years.

The terms for Affiliate Faculty status are for three years and are renewable. Terms begin the following fall semester.
