The Women’s Studies Institute offers a Master of Arts degree and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies.

  • The M.A. is a 36-credit hour degree (10 classes plus the thesis), which students generally complete in two years.
  • The 4-course Graduate Certificate is intended for students who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs at Georgia State and who wish to specialize in gender studies or wish their transcripts to acknowledge their commitment to Women’s Studies; other students who apply to the WSI for the certificate program and who meet the same requirements as other graduate students entering the M.A. program; and students in the WSI M.A. degree program who are unable to complete the program but who have completed the requisite coursework.
